Brewing news Russia: Baltika Finance Vice-Presidents receive new challenges

Baltika Breweries, the leading brewer in Russia and Eastern Europe, announced on March 13 that Peter Chernyshov, Baltika Vice-President of Finance, has been appointed General Director of BBH Ukraine (Slavutich and Lviv Breweries) as of May 1, 2006. Baltika also announced that Ekaterina Azimina, former Baltika Director of Finance, will be returning from her maternity leave to the position of Vice-President Finance as of May 1, 2006.

Ekaterina Azimina, 38, has been working for Baltika since 1996. She started in the position of Deputy Chief Accountant. Her career has advanced rapidly, and in 2003 Ekaterina Azimina, was appointed Director of Finance. Mrs Azimina, who also holds a PhD in Economics, has been a member of Baltika management board since 2003. Azimina commented on her appointment to the position of Vice-President Finance saying: “I am very eager to get back in business during this very exciting period Baltika is going through, although this happened somewhat earlier than I planned”.

Peter Chernyshov, 37, has occupied several demanding positions within the BBH Group of companies since 1999, in three countries. Following a period in the BBH Head Office in Stockholm as a Business Controller, Mr Chernyshov worked as CFO BBH Ukraine for two years, before an appointment as Managing Director of Vena Breweries, StPetersburg in 2003. Following the convincing results improvements at Vena, and experience gained in mergers at Vena and later at Baltika, the nomination to head the BBH Ukrainian business is logical. “BBH Ukraine has several challenges to overcome. I am both ready and excited about this opportunity, and the possibility to return to Kiev again.”

Baltika Breweries President Anton Artemiev commented on the appointments: “Baltika is a dynamic company able to nurture high class management capability. I am proud of both nominations. We wish Peter Chernyshov good luck in his new challenges in the Ukrainian sister company and welcome Ekaterina Azimina back to the team! ”
